Organisation

The research projects within the fingerprint team at the NFI are organised in line with the process of a forensic investigation.

We have defined the following steps in the forensic process:

- interpretation

The topics of the projects vary from fundamental research questions to solving development problems.

The strategic choices in the collection of research projects are related to the overall strategies of the NFI. Developing high-tech methods for forensic appliction.

Enhanced imaging of developed fingerprints using mass spectrometry imaging.

Preparation of cyanoacrylate derivatives and comparison of dual action cyanoacrylate formulations.

Determination of efficacy of fingermark enhancement reagents; the use of propyl chloroformate for the derivatization of fingerprint amino acids extracted from paper.
